3PT Mokena is where Three Point Healthcare started. We opened at 19805 S LaGrange Road in 2018 and built the kind of clinic we'd want to walk into ourselves: bright, open, and staffed by physical therapists who have the time to actually listen. Eight years later, this is still our headquarters, and patients across Will County, from Tinley Park to Frankfort to New Lenox, still choose to drive past closer options to come here.

Maybe it's a knee that hasn't been right since your Lincoln-Way football days. Maybe it's the lower back pain that flares every time you shovel the driveway or sit through a long Metra commute. Maybe your surgeon just told you it's time for a replacement and you want to know what recovery actually looks like. Whatever brought you here, our Mokena team will build a plan around your life, not around a protocol.

What to expect at your first visit

Your first visit is about an hour. You'll work directly with a licensed physical therapist, not an aide, who will ask about your pain, your history, and what you actually want to get back to doing. We'll do a hands-on exam, explain what we find in plain language, and map out a treatment plan with a realistic timeline.

Before you leave, we'll have already verified your insurance benefits and given you a clear picture of what your out-of-pocket costs will be. No billing surprises three weeks later. From that point on, every session is one-on-one with your PT: manual therapy, targeted exercises, and real-time adjustments as you progress.

You don’t need a referral

Illinois is a direct access state, which means you don’t need a physician referral to start physical therapy at 3PT. If something hurts, if you’re recovering from an injury, or if you just want a free injury screening to find out whether PT can help, you can call us directly. Most insurance plans cover direct access PT, and we’ll verify your benefits before your first visit.

Insurance and payment

We accept all major insurance plans at our Mokena clinic, including HMO, PPO, Medicare, workers' compensation, and personal injury liens. We handle the verification before your first visit so you know exactly what's covered and what isn't. If you've been hurt at work or in an accident, we coordinate directly with adjusters, attorneys, and case managers on the paperwork side.

More than physical therapy, when you need it

Most patients who come through our Mokena doors need physical therapy and nothing else. They recover, they graduate, they get back to their lives. That's the goal.

But we also see patients whose pain is tangled up with weight, stress, sleep, or nutrition in ways that physical therapy alone can't fully untangle. For those patients, our Mokena clinic has something unusual: a registered dietitian and a licensed behavioral health clinician on the same team, in the same building, talking to each other about your care. It's not a separate program you get sold into. It's a resource your PT can pull in when the clinical picture calls for it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a doctor's referral to start PT at 3PT?

No. Illinois allows direct access to physical therapy, which means you can call and schedule without a referral or prescription. Most insurance plans cover direct access visits. We'll verify your specific benefits before your first appointment.

How long will my recovery take?

It depends entirely on what we're treating. A straightforward sprain might resolve in 4 to 6 visits over a few weeks. Post-surgical rehab after a knee or hip replacement typically runs 2 to 4 months. After your evaluation, your PT will give you an honest estimate with milestones so you can track your own progress.

Do you handle workers' comp and auto accident cases?

Yes. Our Mokena clinic has handled workers' compensation, personal injury, and auto accident cases since we opened in 2018. We manage the documentation, communicate with adjusters and attorneys, and keep the focus on getting you recovered and back to work.

How soon can I be seen?

Most new patients get their first appointment within 24 to 48 hours. Call (708) 938-3378 and we'll find a slot that works for you.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Your insurance card, a photo ID, and any imaging or surgical reports you have. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. If you don't have imaging or a referral, that's fine. We'll work with what you have.

How long has 3PT been in Mokena?

Since 2018. Mokena is where 3PT started and where our headquarters still is. We've since grown to eight clinics across the south and west suburbs, all run by the same team.
